Assistance with Exporting
Confronting the prospect of exporting for the first time can be daunting. If you are thinking about exporting, Australia Post can assist you with delivery requirements. A number of government programs also offer a range of support mechanisms. Below is a selection of exporter assistance programs and associations:
New Exporter Development Program
Austrade and Tradestart offer a New Exporter Development Program which includes free export services designed to assist eligible Australian businesses develop overseas and make their first export sale. Your export adviser and Austrade’s international network will help to:
- Assess your export capability
- Prepare for your selected market
- Assist in your selected market
- Provide ongoing coaching and advice on practical aspects of exporting

Export Market Development Grants
The Export Market Development Grants scheme is the Australian Government’s assistance program for aspiring and current exporters. The scheme reimburses exporters for up to half of the expenses outlaid on eligible export promotional activities (less the first $15,000). The scheme is open to Australian businesses that earn less than $30 million a year and export goods or services with at least 50% Australian content.
