Special tips for special items
Special tips for special items Many articles require additional protection when being mailed. These include:
- Liquids: Items containing liquid should be surrounded by absorbent paper, placed in a sealed bag and bubble wrapped. Ensure glass items are adequately protected by strong outer packaging and divides to prevent glass breakage.
- Sharp objects: Should be packed to prevent edges cutting through outer packaging, which should always be of rigid construction. Suitable guards, including cork, are recommended for sharp ends.
- Small heavy metal objects: Are best enclosed in a suitable cushioning material before final wrapping.
- Standard sized batteries: Must be removed from the article being sent, wrapped individually (if not in original package) and have no points touching each other.
- Ointments, pastes, powders and creams: Should be placed in a sealed bag and bubble wrapped before being placed in rigid outer packaging.
